I have wavy natural hair so I decided to try this Cantu Shea Butter Masque. Since I had a good experience with the shampoo and conditioner a couple of years ago. I wanted a hair masque that moists my dry hair, especially in summer.
Cantu is an American brand that focuses on hair care products, especially curly, wavy coily hair. Cantu uses natural oils and Shea butter for their items. So after finishing up the Cantu Shea Butter Masque jar, lemme share my experience:

Packaging:
As you can see from the picture above, the packaging does not have anything fancy. Just a regular plastic with an orange cap. The plastic is clear and you can see the cream from it. Most Cantu products have these two colors (White and Orange), It is their visuals.
Cantu Shea Butter Masque contains 340g product that lasted me for a long time. And useful for use for 12 Months after opening. You can use it for restoring tiny cute things afterwards.
Key Ingredient of Cantu Shea Butter Masque:
Cantu Shea Butter Masque is a mixture of nourishing oils and butter. They are known for giving deep moisturizing, helping the elasticity and strength of hair.
Water, canola oil, glycerin, cetearyl alcohol, beeswax, fragrance, cetyl alcohol, butyrospermum parkii (shea) butter, ceteareth-20, glycol stearate, polyquaternium-10, phenoxyethanol, ethylhexylglycerin, cocos nucifera (coconut) extract, persea gratissima (avocado) oil, prunus amygdalus dulcis (sweet almond) oil, vitis vinifera (grape) seed oil simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) seed oil, olea europaea (olive) fruit oil, mangifera indica (mango) seed butter, argania spinosa (argan) kernel oil, melia azadirachta (neem) seed oil, daucus carota sativa (carrot) seed oil, macadamia
Features of Cantu Shea Butter Masque:
Here are the most obvious things I noticed about Cantu Shea butter masque;
Before Use:
- Scent: The scent is the first thing I noticed about it once I opened the jar. It has a fresh tropical smell, like shea and coconut. But the smell lightens up a while after washing it off.
- Color: It has a white creamy color.
- Texture: The texture is creamy and light, not oily or slippery. Which made it kinda hard to spread on hair and gave me a rough feeling. And for these reasons. I did not quite like this feature.
- Cruelty: Free from harsh chemicals like sulfates, parabens, and silicones. And of course cruelty-free.

How to use it correctly:
I searched everywhere from Google to TikTok for different ways to use it by different people, and tried them all. And my choose would be this one:
- Shampoo hair with your favorite one.
- Do not use conditioner afterward. Because it would coat the hair and wont let the masks benefit rich the depth of hair.
- Dry out hair with a towel but not too much.
- Section hair into parts and coat them all, It was kinda hard because It lacks slippage. Then Comb.
- Put on a plastic cap and add some heat to it with a blow drier.
- Let set for 30min then rinse.

After Use:
After drying out, The smell lightens giving s fresh smell which I don’t mind. Most importantly it does NOT weight my hair down, which really matters for me. Because I don’t like the feeling of that especially since I am against washing hair too often. So bouns points for That.
It does not give an extra shine, Or any extra moisture. But it does strengthen the strands.
My Final Thoughts about Cantu Shea Butter Masque:
Cantu Shea Butter Masque claims to help restore and strengthen dry, damaged hair. Embrace curly, coily, or wavy hair. Did it live up to the claims? eeh.. It did give moisture without weighing down my hair. But as for restoring and moisting the hair.. It didn’t do much about it.
Will I purchase it again? Probably, but not with this same masque but another from the Cantu brand. Because I really loved the leave-in conditioner I got once.
Happy HairCaring!
